At Crown College, Media Arts majors learn filmmaking and design from award-winning faculty who are actively engaged in their fields. The Media Arts major provides a broad foundation in the growing fields of video and design, and the Digital Arts concentration enables students to hone their design expertise and specialize in their craft.

Experience

At Crown, you'll get practical experience in every stage of the creative process. Your portfolio will include logos, publication design, websites, apps, social media campaigns, animated infographics,
and more.

Internships

All Media Arts majors complete at least one internship, though many choose to do more. This provides invaluable real-world experience and gives our students a competitive advantage in today’s
job market.

MDA 112 - Principles of Design

This course is an introductory overview of the design field. It introduces framework for design with theories and skills. This includes the principles and elements of design. Offered alternate years (odd)

MDA 449 - Advanced Graphic Design

Students will examine advanced applications of graphic design. This includes the relationship between type, photography, and illustration that can translate into different medias such as print layout, branding, and overall packaging. Offered alternate years (odd)

MDA 342 - Interactive Design

This course examines the importance of designing for the user. This includes strategic web, app, and media design created for the user experience. Students will learn about their target audience, create personas, and learn the technique, tools, and processes used to construct dynamic interactive design. Offered alternate years (even)

FAQs

What is the Faculty to Student Ratio?

Our faculty to student ratio is 17:1. We intentionally aim to keep our class sizes small. This allows us to maintain academic excellence and strong relationships between faculty and students. At Crown College, every student is a person and not just another number.

Will my credits transfer?

We generally accept credits from accredited institutions as long as the student maintained a C or higher in the course. To see a full list of what classes will transfer, you can visit Transferology or contact our registrar office at registrar@crown.edu.

What academic resources are available?
