Crown College’s SPBI Residence Hall Wins Top Project of the Year

Crown College is thrilled to announce that its new state-of-the-art residence hall, SPBI, has been honored in Finance & Commerce’s annual Top Project Awards. This award highlighted 54 projects in total, including several medical facilities and various manufacturing and distribution centers. The selection process, carried out by an independent panel of judges, considered factors such as project complexity, creativity in design, innovative construction techniques, collaboration among contractors, and sustainability efforts. (Finance & Commerce) The awards were celebrated on July 18, 2024, at a special event held at Quincy Hall in Minneapolis.

In partnership with LS Black Constructors and the St. Paul-based BWBR Architects, Inc., Crown College brought this innovative project to life. The design of SPBI incorporates features that minimize the building’s impact on the surrounding wetlands. The residence hall is home to approximately 150 female students, spans three floors and houses 144 beds, with 48 beds per floor spread across eight suites. Each suite offers a community living space, two bathrooms, and three double bedrooms. Each floor includes a large communal area, a fully-equipped kitchen, and study rooms. The hall is built with energy-efficient windows and LED lighting throughout the building.

The project was completed on time and within budget, with no safety incidents reported. As students return to campus this weekend, they can take pride in living in one of the finest residence halls in Minnesota!
