Crown College, the Alumni Association Executive Board, and the Office of Alumni Relations proudly award Rev. James Stumbo the title of Alumni of the Year, 2024!
Jim attended Crown beginning in 1970 and graduated in 1974. It was here that he met his wife, Ronda. Upon graduation, they moved to Greybull, WY, where they pastored the Greybull Alliance Church until 1990. They subsequently relocated to Helena, MT, to restart the Helena Alliance Church. They retired to Motley, MN, in 2021 after 47 years of faithful service in the C&MA. Their four children also attended Crown College: Marcia (Stumbo) Fry, Rev. Nicholas Stumbo, Amy (Stumbo) Stauffer, and Andrew Stumbo. Jim was inducted into the Crown College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002 for Basketball.
In addition to his pastoral work, Jim has served on the Board of Trustees of Crown College from 1992-2008 and the District Executive Committee of the Rocky Mountain District of the C&MA. He also initiated an ongoing ministry to the Tarahumara Indian people of northern Mexico, which has successfully planted churches, established ministry points, and provided livelihoods for the indigenous people, helping them move away from working for cartels and drug smugglers.
“Jim Stumbo’s legacy is a testament to the power of boldly Christian leadership.” President Denton said. “His impact on Crown College, the communities he’s served, and the countless lives he’s touched over nearly five decades is truly remarkable. As an alumnus, a pastor, and a leader, Jim exemplifies the values we hold dear at Crown.”
“It is an honor to recognize Jim Stumbo, as the 2024 Alumni of the Year. His life’s work not only inspires us but also reinforces our commitment to advancing God’s Kingdom through service and faith.” Vice President of Advancement Brandon Schmidly, said.
We want to congratulate Jim, as well as thank him and Ronda for their years of dedicated service to the Kingdom. Join us at Homecoming, 2024 to hear him as our guest speaker at chapel at 10 AM on Friday, September 20.
