Professional Focus and/or Research Agenda

I have two areas of research interest. The first is determining the extent to which physical activity and exercise impact occupational stress, occupational burnout, and stress resilience. The second is understanding physiological differences between novice and elite distance runners including both training and performance measures, but also recovery measures.

Faith Statement

While exercise science may teach concepts from human physiology to exercise testing and prescription, more importantly the concepts are lived through servant leadership. It is through servant leadership, by demonstrating empathy, humbleness, and leading with love, that exercise professionals can be more like Jesus and an extension of God’s work.
