Associate Dean and Program Director of Online Christian Ministries and Graduate School of Ministry

Full-time, 12 months, Exempt

DEFINITION:

This is a full-time, faculty position with administrative responsibilities and oversight of the online ministry programs, including the Graduate School of Ministry.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Reports to the Dean of the School of Theology and Ministry.

SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: The Associate Dean will provide oversight and leadership to faculty teaching within the School of Theology and Ministry online programs.  This includes Core Faculty members of the Graduate School of Ministry.  Additional supervision of student workers and graduate assistants as funding permits.

EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION: Works from an office at Crown College.  Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, telephone, personal computer and required programs, printer, fax machine, calculator, copy machines, and other equipment as the position requires. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

Administrative Leadership:

  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets data targeting program goals and monitors progress to meet or exceed desired results.
  • Coordinate and chair Graduate School of Ministry Core Faculty meetings with a view toward mission fulfillment, continuous improvement, strategic planning, and recommendations for growth and overall strength of the program.
  • Recruit and recommend for hire all adjunct faculty for program specific online courses to the Dean of School of Theology and ministry.
  • Establishes and monitors faculty performance standards and goals for assigned faculty.
  • Provides professional development opportunities for both program students and faculty.
  • Works with the academic advisor to monitor student retention and satisfaction in assigned courses/programs and assists in the development of action plans for improving student retention/satisfaction.
  • Responsible for evaluation of program materials, evaluation tools and enrollment data for the purpose of program reports.

Teaching and Curriculum Leadership:

  • Assists the Dean of the School of Theology and Ministry in curriculum development for online ministry programs and the accelerated degree programs.
  • Evaluates curriculum and initiates revisions as necessary to maintain the relevance, consistency and high educational quality of the online ministry programs and the accelerated degree programs.
    • Leads the Graduate School of Ministry Core Faculty in overseeing curriculum review and development, along with overall program reviews.
    • Recommends to the Dean of the School of Theology and Ministry curriculum offerings and changes as well as appropriate instructors for instructional assignments.
  • Works collaboratively with the Chief Online Learning Officer and Curriculum Management team for online ministry programs and the accelerated degree programs.
    • Approve textbook selections, make necessary adjustments in MBS, and adjust the syllabus and schedule to reflect changes.
    • Adjusts assignments in the syllabus and schedule based on instructor feedback and outcomes assessments.
    • Adjusts Master course shell to accommodate syllabus and assignment changes.
    • Works with the online Curriculum Management team to make sure all ministry courses are in the standard course template and meets standardized online learning expectations.
    • Verifies that all ministry course syllabi and master courses are congruent and current.
  • Assists in specified marketing duties for the assigned programs.
  • Teach 2 courses a semester depending on candidate’s specialty and interest.

General Leadership:

  • Support the mission, goals and objectives of Crown College.
  • Attends C&MA district conferences as assigned as a representee of Crown College.
  • Collaborates with the Dean of School of Theology and Ministry toward online ministry program vision and strategic plan.
  • Partners with on-campus Bible, Theology, and Ministry Studies Department to align mission, goals, and curricula with the online ministry programs to improve student learning and gain institutional efficiencies.
  • Stay abreast of scholarly developments in specific and relevant fields as well as current teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and assessment.
  • Keeps current with state/accreditation reporting requirements related to assigned courses/programs and assists the Dean of the School of Theology and Ministry to ensure appropriate materials are available as required to support any change approval.
  • Explores relationships with potential partners to promote the online ministry programs.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Enrollment and Marketing to promote online ministry programs.
  • Completes professional development activities as established through consultation with supervisor.
  • Serves as chief liaison to the Association of Theological Schools (ATS).  This includes coordinating efforts regarding proper reporting, updates, and communication with ATS.
  • Engage in general faculty responsibilities that include:
  • Participation in department and faculty meetings,
  • Care of students,
  • Crown College committee assignments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Terminal degree in program area
  • Online teaching experience
  • Experience in an academic setting within an educational institution
  • Experience in a supervisory role

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Distance learning program and course administration and development experience
