Student Activities Graduate Intern

Exempt, 15-20 hours a week, On Campus, Start: July 1, 2024

DEFINITION:

The Student Activities Graduate Intern coordinates quality community building initiatives, activities, and events for students at Crown College.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Reports to the Coordinator of Student Engagement

SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: None

EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION:

  • Works out of an office and lives on campus in a designated apartment. Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, personal computer and required programs, printer, fax machine, calculator, copy machines, and other equipment as the position requires.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

 

  • General active support towards the fulfillment of the goals and objectives of Student Development.
  • Work with the Student Activities Board (SAB) to plan, prepare, market, and recruit toward quality student activities at the college.
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers for campus events as needed.
  • Promote activities through a variety of channels.
  • Manage Crown College Student Life social media platforms.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of Welcome Week.
  • Actively participate in Grad Assistant cohort meetings, self-care, leadership training and other Student Development meetings
  • Serve as a resource for Student Development staff with other campus events, administration, and programming.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Candidates should exhibit leadership ability, helping skills, conflict resolution and organizational ability.
  • Be in agreement with the Crown College Statement of Faith and Community Covenant.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Mobility that allows on-going interaction with students
  • Able to lift and carry loads of at least 25 pounds.
  • Able to sit and counsel/mentor students for at least 45 minutes per session.
  • Physically able to drive college vans.
  • Able to stay up late (1 AM or so) and still conduct office hours and meetings the next day.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Acceptance into graduate program at Crown College (Graduate Interns must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 credits per fall and spring term to maintain their position.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Student leadership experience in a like-minded Christian college or university
  • Experience within a related field or department
