The Media Arts major provides a broad foundation in the growing fields of video and design, and the Video Production concentration enables students to develop their storytelling skills and master digital filmmaking technology.

All Media Arts majors complete at least one internship, though many choose to do more. This provides invaluable real-world experience and gives our students a competitive advantage in
today’s job market.

MDA 362 - Video Editing

This class will combine the basics of film editing software procedures with aesthetic skills in order to explore the essential practices of post-production. Offered alternate years (even)

COM 325X - Faith and Film

This class will challenge students to think critically about how films portray various theological concepts and how to engage with them in one’s own personal spiritual development and ministry contexts. Students will apply a firm understanding of hermeneutics as it pertains both to interpreting the Scriptures as well as film. An emphasis will be placed on analyzing how theology is contextualized through film by examining various themes as depicted in the world of cinema. (Also THE 325X)

MDA 448 - Advanced Media Production

This is a senior-level course emphasizing advanced writing, production, and postproduction techniques for video and film production. This class will culminate student’s skills in preproduction, production, postproduction for multiple film and video production projects. The complete development of these projects, from preproduction through postproduction, will be the practical requirement. Offered alternate years (odd)

Our faculty to student ratio is 17:1. We intentionally aim to keep our class sizes small. This allows us to maintain academic excellence and strong relationships between faculty and students. At Crown College, every student is a person and not just another number.
